New businesses are coming to The Villages at Brunswick Forest. This 160-acre commercial town center will soon see the addition of a craft beer and wine bar, an Irish pub, an optometry office, a homebuilder’s design center, an ATMC retail location, Berry Financial Group offices and a Farm Bureau Insurance location. The latter three businesses will be housed in freestanding structures while the former will be part of a new 10,000-square-foot building with space for commercial tenants and offices.

“As we grow, it’s important to continue to offer businesses that serve our residents and the greater Leland area,” says Alan Kerry, president of Lord Baltimore Properties, Brunswick Forest’s developer. “The Villages is the first thing people see when they come into Brunswick Forest. We want to have the right kind of buildings and the right kind of tenant mix to continue to provide homeowners with the convenient lifestyle that we have become known for here at Brunswick Forest.”

The new businesses join a host of other major national and regional chains in the commercial property center, including CVS Pharmacy, Lowes Foods and Port City Java, as well as independent businesses, such as Brunswick Forest Veterinary Hospital. Brunswick Forest’s developers carefully consider which businesses should be part of The Villages in order to remain good stewards of the community and to continue to offer residents the services they need. According to Kerry, a great example of this careful consideration is the inclusion of all of the medical offices in The Villages.

“Access to quality medical care is something that we know is extremely important to our residents and therefore was a must for us to include,” says Kerry.

The Villages continues to defy national trends by being a commercial center that is 100% leased. “We have been very methodical and strategic about the growth of The Villages,” says Kerry. “We want our tenants to be successful, so when businesses approach us about being part of The Villages, we carefully weigh whether or not we think the business is right for our residents and whether we have the clientele to support it.”

ATMC Retail
The addition of ATMC’s new retail location follows on the heels of the company’s launch of their new one gig internet service, which is now available to Brunswick Forest residents. This past fall, Brunswick Forest became one of the first communities in the state to have this new fiber optic broadband service. ATMC held a ground-breaking ceremony for the retail store at The Villages on March 20, which was attended by Leland Mayor Brenda Bozeman among other town officials.

Swell Vision Center
Swell Vision Center is an independent, locally-owned, full-service optometry office that offers state-of-the-art comprehensive visual examinations, contact lens exams, medical evaluations, pre- and post-operative surgical care and emergency medical eye care. Swell Vision will also house a full-service optical retail store. “I couldn’t imagine a better community to be part of than Brunswick Forest,” says Swell Vision owner and optometrist Craig Scibal. “I’m ecstatic to move into The Villages and have the opportunity to join the other outstanding businesses there.”

Berry Financial Group
Berry Financial Group has been providing financial services since 1987 and specializes in working with retirement investments. “We want to have a warm and caring relationship with our clients, so we are naturally excited to have the opportunity to be an integral part of the Brunswick Forest community,” says Richard A. Berry, president of Berry Financial Group. Berry chose the new location in The Villages because of the proximity to Wilmington and the convenience of being able to meet face-to-face with the large number of investors who live in the Leland area.

Farm Bureau
North Carolina Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance company will break ground on their new office location in The Villages this year. This company takes pride in offering real service by real people. Farm Bureau members can enjoy a wide variety of insurance coverage, including life insurance, health insurance, automobile policies and general liability, all at affordable, competitive rates.

Slainté Irish Pub
The new location in The Villages will be an additional one for Slainté Irish Pub, which currently operates in the historic downtown of Southport. This bar and eatery specializes in pub fare and will offer live music.

Flights Craft Beer and Wine Bar
Flights is another local business that is opening an additional location in The Villages. Like its Southport store, the new location will offer tasting flights of fine wines and craft beer, and will serve a small plate, tapas-style menu that will change every two weeks. Flights has plans to host special seven-course tasting events every six weeks to feature wine and food pairings from different regions of the world.
